As we enter the final few days of our in-person consultation, The Flow Country team would like to thank the hundreds of people who have come out to speak to us over the past couple of weeks. The conversations we have had at these drop-in sessions will undoubtedly influence the direction of the World Heritage Site project going forwards.

If you have not yet had the chance to contribute to our online consultation (right here on Commonplace!), please do take a moment to share your thoughts on our map and through our questionnaire. If you have friends, family or colleagues whom you feel would be interested in our project, please also share the link with them.

The Flow Country Partnership is in Strathy Village Hall today, speaking to locals and visitors about the Flow Country World Heritage Site Project. If you are in the area, do pop in and take a look at our consultation materials. We have tea, coffee and biscuits and are playing the Flow Country film, which is a 25 minute overview of The Flow Country and its communities.

We are delighted to have welcomed over 150 people to our drop-in sessions so far! After starting our Flow Country tour in Brora on Monday 9th May, we continued through Golspie, Helmsdale, Dunbeath, Lybster, Wick and Reay, before setting up today at Thurso Library. It has been fascinating to discuss our World Heritage Site proposal with so many people and we hope to have plenty more conversations over the coming weeks and months.

The Flow Country World Heritage Site consultation kicks off the week in Wick at The Pulteney Centre. We are looking forward to sharing the latest news about our project and hearing your thoughts on our proposed boundary and the impact that a World Heritage Site in Caithness and Sutherland could have.

The Flow Country Partnership has taken its consultation to Helmsdale! Come and drop-in for a chat at Timespan museum to find out more about the World Heritage Site bid for The Flow Country.

We have a beautiful video of The Flow Country peatlands, some fantastic maps and information boards, plenty of tea and coffee and laptops available for those who wish to share their views on our online consultation.

In early 2020 The Flow Country was chosen as the UK's candidate site for World Heritage Site inscription. Since then, The Flow Country Partnership has been working hard to prepare a full nomination to UNESCO, who will make the final decision of whether The Flow Country is included on the World Heritage Site list.

An important part of this process is community consultation. Starting in Brora on May 9th, we will carry out over three weeks of drop-in consultation events to share the progress of our project and hear your thoughts on The Flow Country's World Heritage Site bid.

A Flow Country World Heritage Site could bring many benefits to the communities of Caithness and Sutherland. Each World Heritage Site brings different benefits to its local communities and it is important that local people are involved at an early stage to determine the types of benefits that they want to receive.

We hope to see as many of you as possible at our drop-in events, so please take a look at the timetable below and share this news with friends and family.

There will be tea, coffee and biscuits at all events, so please do come along for a chat.
